ISMN No: 9790570272198Some of the greatest melodies of twentieth century popular music are Latin American either in origin or in inspiration. The subtle and evocative rhythms of such forms as the Samba, Bossa Nova, Tango and Rumba are to be found in this collection of arrangements of Latin favourites all of which would make excellent concert material.

“… All tunes in this Latin American selection can be played by good Grade 3 and 4 players. Both rhythmically and slidewise there are difficulties to overcome but plenty of opportunity in every tune to teach and show the student how much progress they are making. Opportunity too to introduce students to seven different dance tempos and styles. The piano parts work well and complement the soloist as all Ramskill’s accompaniments do, but not every instrumental teacher will be able to play them. I particularly like the slow ballad ‘Cuando Calienta el Sol’, a good vehicle to introduce young players to sustained playing, breath control, legato and possibly a discreet vibrato? Your better players might like to try it an octave higher in Tommy Dorsey mode!” Reviewed ‘Music Teacher’
